Foie gras

Oh my god, only yesterday I found out that my favourite Foie gras which has a buttery and delicate taste to it is actually a fattened liver of geese or ducks that have been overfed with corn and fat! *fainted*

Oh my god!! Oh my god!!!

As a result of being force-fed, da livers of da animals become enlarged, almost da size of a fist!

Da Pain & Suffering of Foie gras....

Da birds are somehow kept in tiny wire cages or packed into sheds. Pipes are repeatedly shoved down da birds' throats, and up to 4 pounds of grain and fat are pumped into their stomachs two or three times every day. *fainted*

Da pipes were then puncture many birds' throats, sometimes causing the animals to bleed to death. This cruel procedure causes da birds' livers to become diseased and swell to up to 10 times their normal size. Many birds become too sick to stand up. The birds who survive the force-feeding are killed, and their livers are sold for foie gras. *fainted*

People around the world have spoken out against da cruelty of foie gras. In 2004, California passed a law banning da sale and production of foie gras effective in 2012, and Chicago banned the sale of this cruel product in 2006. Foie gras production has been outlawed in da U.K., Germany, the Czech Republic, Finland, Luxembourg, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark, and Israel.

Surprisingly, it's still one of da greatest delicacies and an expensive sounding dish in French Cuisine!

Oh my god, I think there will be no more Foie gras for me in da future :( Feel like it's a sin to eat it now...... Sob sob
