NanXiang Mantou Dian @ The Curve

We were at The Curve few nights ago and look at how beautifully da whole place is decorated! With those lovely Cherry Blossom decorations all over, so much of a Chinese New Year feel I must say! So, if you've yet to visit The Curve recently, do drop by! :)

Dinner was at Nanxiang Mantou Dian

We were greeted with this appetizer, Pickled Cucumber with Sliced Garlic. Taste wise, pretty good but bear in mind that you got to pay RM 1 for this without one's realisation. Yeah, we thought that it was free not until da bill came.

We had da Steamed Dumplings only with Pork Filling which's priced at RM 12 per portion. Well, we definitely had a nightmare with this. First, we waited more than 15 minutes for this Xiu Long Bao to be served and once served, when darling had his very first bite, he found out that da Pork Filling wasn't cook!!!!!!!!!! O_o Oh my god, that's really bad isn't it for a place like this that proudly named themselves as a place for da best Xiu Long Bao? Yikes, uncooked means negative review! Well, da staff apologised and brought it back to da kitchen. Darn it, we got to wait for another 15 minutes....... *grumpy*

I wanted this Steamed Bun with Crab Roe Soup stuffing and darling ordered it for me. Priced at RM 15, must confess that this's kinda da worst Steamed Bun I ever had. Da skin of da Bun was darn thick while da soup was kinda diluted, definitely not towards my expectation. Bad!

Darling had da Chicken & Melon Soup Noodles. I don't remember da price for da Noodles but da Soup was served separately from this Shanghai Noodles and you can opt to drink da hot soup first while pouring da exact amount that you want for your Noodles. I had a few sips on da soup and didn't quite like da taste of it cause it was kinda flavourless to me though.

Da Chicken & Melon Soup based for da Noodles

While darling had da Soup based Noodle, I went for da Fried Noodles with Pork which's priced at RM 12 if I am not mistaken. Da Noodles, kinda like a "Yee Mee" texture but slightly smoother and softer. Hokkien Fried "Yee Mee" still da best! :)

Trust me, we will not be going back to this place not even to bring my parents or darling's parents to try it out at all cause it's not worthy! So pissed with da half-cooked Steamed Dumplings and guess what? Da total damage for da above food shot up to RM 60+ which I think they are really expensive!!!!!!!!! That's it, goodbye NanXiang Mantou Dian!

I was at the Curve last weekend and took exactly the same photos you took of the cherry blossoms. At first glance, i thought it was from my camera. Hahaha.

Is this Nanxiang Mantou place a branch from the famous Shanghai one? I walked pass and tempted to try but just had breakfast so didn't have the chance. Horrible to serve uncooked pork...yucks!

Kakaka..I like the last sentence. "That's it, goodbye Nanxiang Mantou Dian". Maybe you should say "Asta La Vista, Nanxiang Raw Mantou Dian!" Sounds more cool. :-P

Thanks to you, I for sure won't be trying that restaurant. ;-)

I tried this restaurant last week and like you didn't like it. The dumplings weren't particularly bad but definitely nothing to shout about. Servings were small too but yet so expensive. Left the place feeling I was ripped off.

Gosh, all the hype about this place and thier own signature dish sucks? This is very bad. And I was tempted to try out that place before this. Thank good I didnt.

Nanxiang in Shanghai was all hype too (where the original shop is). Everyone lines up to get the xiao long bao but it was a huge disappointment. I thought it was so good as there is always long queue. The skin is too thick, there is no juice in the dumpling and yes what a disappointment. Now it looks like the one in KL is even worse. BOO!

My oh my, it sounded very scary leh~! Mei Yen jie, for once a restaurant like that with "xiao long bao" on their menu cover actually selling yucky "xiao long bao"? What's this? I can't even think about how they actually managed to open this restaurant without having food control and quality checking. :(

Gee, it sounds like a very bad visit that day. Was it packed? Kinda strange as I've eaten before here on a very busy Sat nite and service was really good and fast. In fact, everyone kept coming to my table to check if we got our orders. This was just after they opened i.e. the Christmas/New Year period.

The menu is similar to the one in Spore's branch as they specialise in different varieties of xiao loong baos. Xiao loong baos nothing much to shout about - very badly wrapped, I snapped pixs and was really not satisfied. I think the big soup dumpling's skin has to be thicker than the normal xiao loong baos to hold the weight of the soup. Also had other things like their siu mai made with glutinous rice, nien kao, a deep fried pork dish but we didn't touch the noodles. What was very good though was their Shanghainese Fried Rice - grains all coated with egg and not too oily and fragrant. Much better than the one upstairs in Dragon-i which was too oily and slightly soggy.

Hope you filled up their survey form as they give that out after your meal to hear yr feedback.

preciouspea, yeah..it was really horrible!!!! feel sick when i think of it...:(

tankiasu, that sounds cool! :p oh well, perhaps we were not that lucky that day?

mycoffee, yeah da quality of food doesn't meet da price at all!!!!

honeystar, maybe you can try their other dishes?

rasamalaysia, it's always packed at this place though da food that i had sucks big time and i really wonder why... perhaps they are all first-timer?

tummythoz, u made a good choice! :D

wmw, i wonder if there is someone that willingly to return after da very first time.. but, definitely not for me! just too expensive.....

j, O_o my god... that sounds really bad.....

cookies, exactly! then again, it maybe because we were not that lucky that day?

boo, at that time we were there it wasn't packed and nobody came to us and ask how's da food at all! they just apologised for da uncooked xiuloongbao and honestly speaking, we waited quite long for our food to arrive! lastly, they also didn't give us da survey form that you mentioned... maybe they know that we surely gonna complain due to da uncooked xiuloongbao?
