Noodles & Yong Tau Foo @ Fatty Mok Restaurant, Salak South Garden

Dad and I went to Bukit Serdang yesterday and while on our back to office, we decided to have lunch at Fatty Mok since it had been ages we last ate here and also, conveniently we would pass by Salak South Garden. My family used to come here quite often back then when I was still a kid, when "Fei Lou" Mok wasn't famous yet, from one small corner Stall to one big corner Restaurant and now, occupying two premises (one shop with air-cond). Da reason why we came here oftenly was because my aunty and cousins stay nearby this area and that my cousin is quite close to "Fei Lou" Mok. If you aren't aware, Fatty Mok is famous for its Yong Tau Foo and there after, they started to serve Noodles, Rice and Porridge. Years later, they even open at night for "Tai Chow". I tried their "Tai Chow" few times and their serving of dishes are quite big, very affordable for big family.

Dad had "Zhar Yook" Noodle (RM 3.80). A dry-version Noodle, served with minced Pork Meat, Black Fungus and Veges, dad exclaimed that serving is huge, lotsa Noodles but lack of "Zhar Yook" as there were only 2 pieces given.

As for myself, I went for a bowl of Prawn Noodles (RM 3.80). Very big portion indeed, I mean da "Bee Hoon". No big Prawns, only tiny sliced Prawns were served :| and lotsa shredded Pork Meat which I dislike cause da Meat was dry and hard to chew :(

We ordered few pieces of "Yong Tau Foo" (RM 0.80/pc) and it was a big disappointment, enough said :(

To be honest, quite unbelievable that their standard has dropped tremendously as compared to previous years. It looks like everything has changed since they got famous. Seriously, their "Yong Tau Foo" were really yummy back then and da place used to be fully occupied during lunch hour, especially weekends but not now anymore. No wonder that my aunty and cousins decided to drop this place. Well, I feel that they can still do better since this place is still managed by da same man :)

meiyen,
Out of three bowl of dishes, only your dad's "zhar yook" noodle looks a bit better than the rest. The yong tau fu, so plaiinnn...

P/s: The "Me To You" mentioned in my blog can be bought at one of the shop located at Rundle Street in Adelaide. Easy to find. :)
