Penang: Kek Lok Si Temple & Hawker Food Galore @ Lorong Selamat

Back to our Penang trip, we decided to visit Kek Lok Si Temple on da next day we arrived.

Fantastic, good weather, real hot! :p

There were so many Tortoises in da Temple and they were really hungry! We bought Veges for them to eat and they finished it so quick!

Some of them laze around, sun bathing! :D

My motive to be in Kek Lok Si Temple.....

To have a view on this newly built Kuan Yin statue, so beautiful! I love this place, like a heaven!

After prayers, we took a cab down to Lorong Selamat for lunch and to our surprise.....

Da famous "Char Keow Teow" stall was fully occupied! Imagine that, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5..... 10! O_o Yes, we were da number 10 and some of them (in front of us) ordered so many plates that in conclusion, I think we waited for more than 20 plates of Fried Keow Teow before us! :|

Believe it or not, we queued and waited at least 30 minutes for this plate of "CKT" and guess what? It's freaking expensive too! RM 5.50 for this full of lards Fried Keow Teow. Nevertheless, it tastes good with lotsa "wok hei" but really, it's too much.... paid so much, yet got to wait so long and worst of all, self-service! :| Insane......

We also had a bowl of "Assam Laksa" from other stall. Oh my god, no good.. tastes bland, very disappointed with it! For sure, O & S's Assam Laksa tastes way much better than this.

Next up, "Poh Piah". This version of Nyonya Spring Roll filled with cooked shredded Turnip, Beans, Prawns and Beancurd not bad but I still prefer those back in KL.

We also had "Lo Bak". Look at that, it's a good roll of Pork wrapped with Beancurd skin and deep fried until crispy. We had it accompanied with preserved Century Eggs, Prawn Fritters and Fried Beancurd which were all good, yummy!

To end our hearty lunch, we shared a bowl of "Ais Kacang" topped with Vanilla Icecream. Not da best but still okay, at least good enough to cool us down as da day was so warm and hot!

So much of food that we had that afternoon at Lorong Selamat. Though da food here not superbly yummy and over priced, we still enjoyed every minutes of it (especially da waiting part, for da "CKT") as it was our first time here ;)

I share your disappointment, that's why I don't recommend friend from other state to Lorong Selamat for Penang food. There are just not the right place to demonstrate the good, tasty and cheap(not cheap anymore) Penang food!!!

Wah, by the amount of sunlight shining on the pagoda, I can tell it must have been a wonderful day to be out. Unlike here in PJ/KL, everyday hujan onli....
